Have JCI and Rupiah Slides Hit the Floor Yet?
Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) slumped 4.9 percent to 3,989.52 at Monday's close, the lowest in eight years. The last time JCI touched 3.000 was on June 24, 2012, when it closed at 3,955.58.
Meanwhile, the rupiah exchange rate on the spot market closed down 3.85 percent to Rp 16,575 per US dollar, approaching the all-time low at Rp 16,650 per US dollar reached on June 17, 1998, during the monetary crisis about 22 years ago, Bloomberg's data shows.
