Bad Loan Slashes BTN Profit

PT Bank Tabungan Negara / BTN (BBTN) experienced a deep decline in net profit. In 2019, BTN's profit only reached Rp 209 billion, down more than 92 percent compared to the 2018 profit at Rp 2.81 trillion.

Last year, BTN allocated an allowance for impairment losses (CKPN) of Rp 6.1 trillion because of the implementation of PSAK 71. This CKPN increased from 2018, which only amounted to Rp 3.3 trillion. The CKPN allocation brought the Capital Ratio (CAR) to 18.26 percent in 2019.
