The nomination of Gibran Rakabuming Raka, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's eldest son, as the Solo Mayor candidate in this year's election through the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is likely to run smoothly. The meeting between Jokowi and the current Mayor of Solo and the PDI-P's Solo Executive Board (DPC) Chairman FX Hadi Rudyatmo on Friday last week seemed to have produced a consolidation that would smoothen Gibran's steps.

Earlier this week, PDI-P's officials from Solo came to the headquarters of the party bearing the bull logo in Jakarta for consolidation under the invitation of the party's Central Leadership Council (DPP). Previously, Rudyatmo and the officials of PDI-P Solo did not support Gibran's nomination. They opted for Achmad Purnomo (currently serving as Deputy Mayor of Solo) to compete in the 2020 Solo Mayor Election.
