Timah Devises Strategy to Address Tin Supply and Demand

Summary

PT Timah Tbk will build a smelter with new technology in Muntok, West Bangka. The smelter is planned to have a production capacity of 40 thousand tons of crude tin and carry out low-grade tin ore processing using EPCC TSL Furnace Ausmelt technology. This smelter development is part of the company's efforts to process its mining reserves in the future.

Timah Director of Operations and Production Alwin Albar said, with the decrease in alluvial tin reserves, it is feared that it will no longer be economical if only relying on existing technology. With the new technology, the company's smelter can operate for primary tin deposits that have a lower tin content.
