Incheon Airport to Transform Batam Airport Into International Hub
Foreign investors are increasingly interested in the airport management business in Indonesia. Recently, Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) expressed its interest in managing Hang Nadim Airport, Batam, Riau Islands. To carry out the plan, the Korea-based investor plans to team up with PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I and PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) by creating a consortium. The consortium will, therefore, audition for the project through a government-to-business scheme.
In the consortium, AP I is responsible for the operational and commercial management of the airport. Meanwhile, IIAC will take care of the airport’s marketing and developmental strategies, while WIKA will handle the infrastructure management of the airport.
The president director of AP I, Faik Fahmi, on Tuesday (1/14), said that the consortium would develop the airport as a hub for international flights. AP I would hold 51 percent of the consortium shares, IIAC would own 30 percent of them, while WIKA gets the rest.
