Yellow Brick Road for the 'President's Man' to lead Golkar
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto is almost certain to be elected as chair of the Golkar Party for 2019-2024. Bambang Soesatyo, a strong competitor of Airlangga, resigned in the middle of the road, leaving Airlangga as the strongest candidate for the chairman to be selected by the national assembly participants, which took place Tuesday (12/3) to Friday (12/6).
Bambang said that he had reached reconciliation with the Airlangga camp. Thus the remaining candidates besides Airlangga are Agun Gunandjar, Ridwan Hisjam, and Ali Yahya. The last two are also rumored to be retreating.
