Battle of Claims in Golkar Leadership Race
Golkar leadership race is getting more intense near the party’s national congress (Munas) in December 2019. The supporters of Airlangga Hartanto, the party’s current chairman, and Bambang Soesatyo, the contender, are attacking each other. Bambang supporters even plan to hold a separate national congress.
The deputy secretary of the central executive board, Viktus Murin, even revealed the plan to conduct an alternative national congress if Airlangga’s side kept cheating. He accused Airlangga and his team of not giving any room for Bambang Soesatyo’s supporter in the committee of the upcoming Munas in December. The chairman of West Java Regional Executive Board, Dedi Mulyadi, thought the accusation was baseless, and it was unnecessary to hold a separate national congress.
