Erick Thohir's "Clean-Up" Maneuver
Not even a month after being inaugurated, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN/SOEs) Erick Thohir moved quickly to consolidate his organization. Reportedly, the 49-year-old minister will replace all deputy ministers and the secretary of the SOEs ministry. They will all be "demoted" to the ranks of SOEs directors.
Wahyu Kuncoro, who was previously the Deputy for Agro and Pharmaceutical Industry at the Ministry of SOEs, will be placed as Vice President Director of Pegadaian, a state-owned pawnshop. While Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, Deputy for Energy, Logistics, Regions, and Tourism, will serve as Vice President Director of Angkasa Pura II, the state-owned airport management company.
Meanwhile, Fajar Harry Sampurno, Deputy of Strategic Industries and Media Mining, who often acts as a ministry spokesman, will be appointed President Director of Barata Indonesia, a state-owned EPC (engineering procurement construction) company. Gatot Trihargo, Deputy for Financial Services, Surveys and Consultants will become Vice President Director of Bulog, a state-owned company that manages rice reserves.
While Aloysius Kiik Ro, Deputy for Restructuring and Business Development, reportedly will serve as Vice President Director of Danareksa. Meanwhile, Hambra, Deputy for Business Infrastructure, was transferred to Pelindo II, a state-owned port management company, as Deputy President Director. Imam Aprianto Putro, Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs, will serve as Vice President Director of Fertilizer Indonesia, a state-owned holding company in the fertilizer industry.
