Banks Hold Rights Issue as Tight Liquidity Restrains
Several banks announced a rights issue plan towards the end of this year in a bid to strengthen capital. PT Bank MNC International Tbk, for example, plans to hold a rights issue in December 2019, eyeing Rp 206 billion from the issuance of 4.12 billion shares with a nominal price of Rp 50 per share. The BABP stock-coded bank would use the proceeds to strengthen the capital adequacy ratio (CAR).
Meanwhile, Bank Bukopin and Bank Muamalat plan to increase capital through the rights issue next year. The BBKP stock-coded bank would issue 4.66 billion Series B shares with a nominal value of Rp 100 per share, estimating to reap around Rp 2 trillion to Rp 2.5 trillion of proceeds. Meanwhile, Bank Muamalat, the first Islamic bank in Indonesia, eyes Rp 3.29 trillion proceeds from the rights issue.
