Final Target of the Job Creation Law: February 2021

Employment law
Summary

The Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, Luhut Pandjaitan, revealed that Law No. 11/2020 on the job creation and all its derivative regulations could come into effect in February 2021. Currently, the government is finalizing supporting regulations for the Job Creation Law, consisting of 40 government regulations (PP) and four presidential regulations (Perpres). "With this omnibus law, the government will create a better business ecosystem in Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the Coordinating Economic Ministry, Susiwijono Moegiarso, revealed that the legislative process of the draft government regulations (RPP) and presidential regulations (RPerpres) as the Job Creation Law’s derivatives had been completed. However, due to several reasons, all of the drafts have not been uploaded to the official portal of the Job Creation Law. "There are several things that are discussed internally with the government, inter-ministries, and institutions," he stated. According to the mandate of Article 185 of the Job Creation Law, the time limit given to finalizing the technical regulations is three months after it was promulgated. "Because it was out on November 2, it must be finished before February 1, 2021," he continued.
